Whitby District Lion's Club
Events list
Whitby Lion’s is a completely voluntary run club which has been at the heart of Whitby and its surrounding village communities since 1970 and have been proudly serving our area ever since.
The club is part of a network of other Lions clubs around the country and worldwide that make up Lions International. Their 1.35 million members who perform community service in 209 countries share a core belief, ‘we serve,’ which demonstrates club member’s determination to help the less fortunate and to support local communities.
Throughout the year the club holds a number of events including our famous Whitby Boxing Day Dip, Whitby Beer Festival and the Whitby Rainbow Colour Run along with a number of other smaller events, all of which help raise money for the club. This money is then donated to local charities, good causes, clubs/groups and personal donations to those people who are in need of assistance.
This year the club held our first Community Grant Scheme which donated over £7,000.00 to local organisations, clubs/groups, schools and local charities who make a difference to our local community.
The club also runs a fleet of disability mobility scooters, which are hired out to families for free of charge to improve their lives so they can access local services and improve their quality of life.
